Most Rev. Dr. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo
Most Rev. Dr. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo is the current Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, appointed by Pope Francis on April 15, 2014. He succeeded Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins, who was transferred to the Archdiocese of Lagos.
Bishop Odetoyinbo was born on April 29, 1964, in Ondo State, Nigeria. He felt the call to priesthood at a young age and pursued his vocation with dedication and commitment. After completing his philosophical and theological studies, he was ordained to the priesthood on July 6, 1991, for the Diocese of Ondo.
From 2005 to 2014, Bishop Odetoyinbo served as the Rector of St. John Vianney Seminary in Ondo. During his tenure as rector, he played a crucial role in the formation of future priests, imparting not only academic knowledge but also the spiritual and pastoral skills necessary for effective ministry.
His appointment as Bishop of Abeokuta in 2014 marked a new chapter in his service to the Church. Since assuming office, he has worked tirelessly to promote the growth and development of the Diocese of Abeokuta.
Bishop Odetoyinbo is known for his commitment to evangelization, family life, and youth ministry. He has initiated various programs aimed at strengthening Catholic families and engaging young people in the Church.
